  Showalter Evangelism Ministries (SEM) was organized in 1992 after 25 years of practical experience in church ministries. The laboratory of learning began with a fine arts degree in Church Music from Olivet Nazarene University and continued in four in four churches of different sizes, in differing parts of the country with differing cultural backgrounds.

For seven years the Showalters ministered in a rural community of 10,000 where the community church, where they served, grew from 200 to over 700. For five years he served on a staff that included 18 staff members, a supportive staff of 25 and a congregation of over 2500.

His next ministry was in a city in the South where he continued to grow and develop the tools of fine arts ministry in a churcfh which grew from a congregation of 200 to one of over 1,000. Through drama, orchestra, and the choir, the Nashville Passion Play was founded, attracting families from over 25 states and playing and ministering to capacity crowds every performance each spring season.

The goal of SEM is to establish "transferable concepts" for training ministers of music of traditional churches how to implement "blended" traditional and contempory styles of music and ministry. They will be taught concepts for proclaiming Biblical and social truths for dealing with the spiritual and social ailments prevalent in our culture entering the 21stcentury.
